Our Pombero Clothing

Pombero Logo

POMBERO created by Rodrigo “Flaco” Jacks in the 2002… almost by accident; he took his traditional Ao poi(ah oh poh e) shirt to a surfing trip on the US coast. Some of his “gringo” surfer mates were captivated with his shirt and became even more interested when Rodrigo told them that all the embroidering details are inspired by nature and created by hand.

Flaco came back to Paraguay with a very clear vision to make Ao poi (known by every Paraguayan) known to the world.

Now, with a team of artisans from the Guaira Region of Paraguay, each unique collection is created in delicate, yet resistant 100 percent cotton fabric.

The handembroidered details that give life to our clothing come from hereditary patterns carrying a 250 year old tradition and fusing this wonderfully intricate and beautiful technique with a modern style.

Pombero works closely with the Artisans' Community to promote their handcraft and teach the techniques to future generations.

Our Bags

Ornato Bag

Hand-tooled Organic leather Bags by Ornatos: Designed by Raquel and Andrea with the help of artisans from the town of San Lorenzo. They take inspiration from natural elements of the Paraguayan Forest, giving life to unique designs in fantastic colours.

La Nativa handtooled organic leather Bags: Designed by Lourdes with the help of Don Arturo, a skilled artisan who has been working the leather for more than 25 years. They create a unique - limited edition - collection fusing traditional techniques with contemporary twists in colours that cannot be repeated.

These designers and artisans use no mass production machines or chemicals but work the leather to produce hardwearing quality products with traditional techniques, cures and natural dyes (quebracho extracts).

All our bags are exclusively designed to La Nativa.

Our Don Mateo Jewelry

Jewellery

Silver sterling filigree jewellery produced by Don Mateo. Magnificent “Paraguayan Filigree” an ancient art form with a delicate handcrafted technique introduced into Latin America by the Spanish conquistadors. This artisan technique involves the delicate procedure of doubling and twisting fine threads of 925 sterling silver into ornate and elaborate designs. Paraguayan filigree is truly rare tradition, producing silver pieces of incredible workmanship.
